OMG A MOUSE!!!
Okay so this new farm girl got one hell of a scare!!!
I went out to collect our eggs when I got home from work and there was a mouse!!! Don't worry, it wasn't in the coop. It was on the ground by the coop. I started to shriek and hyper ventilate, all while on the phone with Marg (you will hear a lot about her throughout this blog but Marg is my mother-in-law extraordinaire)! Marg told me that mice like hay because it is warm and we have a lot of hay around the coop. I asked her if chickens eat mice and you know what the answer was, "No!" Oh my, I do not like mice. I think my heart is still racing 20 minutes later. I am freaked out to go back outside. Marg's words of advice is "that if I am going to be a country girl I need to get use to mice!" I really want to be that country girl...but I am not a fan of mice. What is the purpose of mice honestly! I see none. Actually what I see is a prey to attract hawks that will kill my chickens and snakes that will kill me...just by sight!
I guess this is all part of the journey of being a chicken owner, but this girl has A LOT to learn!
